Regions with the highest growth of WhatsApp downloads from the Apple App Store and Play Store As of 4th Quarter, 2024

As of Q4 2024, Vietnam demonstrates remarkable performance, ranking high on both platforms—second on the App Store with 26.98% growth and leading the Play Store with an impressive 38.18% growth. This dual-platform success suggests a comprehensive digital adoption trend in Vietnam. Southeast Asian countries show strong representation overall, with Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam all appearing on both platform lists. The Philippines achieved 25.18% growth on the App Store and 16.39% on the Play Store, while Thailand recorded 16.67% and 16.05% growth respectively. Latin American markets demonstrate substantial App Store growth, with Colombia leading all regions at 35.25%, followed by Argentina (21.13%), Chile (16.81%), and Mexico (11.47%). Notably, European nations predominantly appear on the Play Store rankings, with Italy showing exceptional growth (36.17%), followed by Switzerland (32.15%), the United Kingdom (20.23%), France (17.47%), and the Netherlands (15.92%). The Russian Federation shows significant Play Store growth at 31.54%, despite global political tensions, while South Korea’s strong App Store presence (26.07%) contrasts with its absence from Play Store rankings. This regional distribution pattern suggests that WhatsApp’s growth strategy may need to be tailored differently across platforms, with the App Store showing stronger performance in developing markets across Asia and Latin America. At the same time, the Play Store demonstrates particular strength in European markets and Vietnam.
