Abstract

Several studies highlighted the potency of Big Data, particularly Google search data, in forecasting consumer behaviour, health research, business trends, election outcomes, and more. To understand the increasing interest in Lakshadweep, we carefully analyzed relevant data using Google Trends. We focused on data from at global level and national level (for India), specifically from December 2023 to February 2024 for the keyword “Lakshadweep,” (Uninon Territory). On January 3, the Relative Search Volume (RSV) for the keyword “Lakshadweep” was low both globally and nationally. However, starting from January 6, there was a steady rise in RSV for this keyword until January 8, followed by a decline from January 12 onwards. The search queries related to the keyword “Lakshadweep” reveal key themes that highlight a significant interest in travel-related information, tourism, flights, airports, packages, hotels, distances, Indian companies, and comparisons with destinations like the Maldives.
